10 Things Every Kid Does That Are Actually Kind of Genius

10 Things Every Kid Does That Are Actually Kind of Genius

We spend a lot of time teaching kids how the world works.

But spend five minutes actually watching them, and you start to wonder if they've had it figured out the whole time.

Here are 10 things kids do that, honestly, we should probably all be doing.

1. They Ask "Why" Until They Actually Get an Answer

Not the polite "oh interesting" nod. Not the "I'll Google it later" half-answer. They want to know why the sky is blue and they will follow up.

Three times.

Until you either explain it properly or admit you don't actually know.

Turns out that's just called intellectual curiosity. Adults just got embarrassed out of it somewhere along the way.

2. They Dress for How They Feel, Not for What's "Appropriate"

Cape to the grocery store? Done.

Rain boots in July? Obviously.

Favorite shirt four days in a row? It's called a signature look and they're committed to it.

There's a confidence in that we quietly envy. (Okay, I know I envy it...)

3. They Fully Commit to the Bit

If they're a dinosaur, they are a dinosaur. They aren't "pretending" or "playing".

They are one, and they will correct you if you suggest otherwise. Might even bite you to prove it. (Please don't-!)

Full commitment. No self-consciousness. Zero notes.

4. They Know When They're Done

Tired? They stop. Hungry? They say so.

Done with a conversation? They just... leave it.

Adults call this "setting boundaries." Kids call it "Tuesday".

5. They Find the Fun in the In-Between

The waiting room. The car ride. The line at the post office.

Boredom let's their creativity spark and let them find the fun in whatever is going on (or not going on).

The destination is optional. The adventure is now.

6. They Forgive Fast

One minute it's a full meltdown. Ten minutes later they're best friends again, the conflict completely forgotten, already onto the next thing. (Fist bumps and high fives included).

They probably don't even understand the concept of a grudge. They just... move on.

7. They're Genuinely Excited About Small Things

A cool rock. A bug on the sidewalk. The fact that their straw makes a specific sound when it hits the bottom of the cup. (And let's not forget the bubble blowing in a cup... even if it does make a mess sometimes...)

They haven't learned to filter what's "worth" being excited about yet. Everything is potentially amazing.

This is probably what all the "self-help" gurus mean by "being present".

8. They Ask for Help Without Making It a Thing

With kids, you don't really hear "I should be able to figure this out myself." They don't do the three days of trying alone before reluctantly admitting defeat thing either.

They just say "I need help with this" and move on with their life. Revolutionary, honestly.

9. They Move Their Bodies Constantly

We might call it "fitness". But really, it's just human nature.

They run because running is fun. They jump because jumping is satisfying. They spin because spinning is hilarious (especially when it comes with falling down after bumping into the table...)

Movement as joy, not obligation. We used to know this.

10. They Mean What They Say

"I love you." "You're my best friend." "This is the best day ever."

When kids say something, they mean it completely. And somehow that's the most radical thing on this list.

As it turns out, the tiny humans have been onto something all along.

We make clothes for kids who haven't learned to hold back yet. And honestly, we hope they never do.

Rad kids. Rad clothes. That's the whole thing.
